Blackjack is one of the most popular card games played in casinos. Known as 21, Blackjack is a card game where players compete against the dealer, the main goal being to have the total amount of cards in hand to reach a value of 21. There are many versions of Blackjack, but basically all work on the same principle, that is to reach the value of 21. The game starts with each player receiving two cards, after which players can form their hand through different decisions. Depending on the type of blackjack and imposed rules, players can claim cards, continue without asking for cards, split their hand and double the stake.

Basic concepts

  • Books with characters (kings, queens, and valets) are 10, and the numbered books have the value of their figures.
  • At the player's discretion, the ace can have a value of 1 or 11.
  • The combination of a 10-point and a 11-point card results in a grant called blackjack.
  • The player who has managed to get a blackjack is usually rewarded more than usual.
  • Also, depending on the blackjack version, there is a selection of secondary bets that can be placed.
  • If the value of 21 is exceeded, the home wins and the player loses what bet.
  • The house must reach a minimum of 16 or 17 points, alternatively it may remain at 17 points.
  • The hand closest to 21 wins.
  • In the event of a draw, the reward is generally divided between the players who have reached the draw, but there are blackjack versions where the players in the draw have to draw a card.

    How to play

    Face cards (kings, queens and jacks) are counted as ten points. A player and the dealer can count his or her own ace as 1 or 11 points. All other cards are counted as the numeric value shown on the card. If the first two cards you are dealt total twenty-one, you have a black jack. Black jack pays one and a half times your bet. You can not lose but you could tie if the dealer also has a black jack.

    If you are dealt any combination other than black jack, you can either ,,stand” (take no more cards) or signal the dealer for a ,,Hit” (draw additional cards). Remember, the objective is to reach twenty-one or as close to twenty-one as possible without going over. You also want your hand to be closer to twenty-one than the dealers hand.

  • If your card counter is closer to twenty-one than the dealers hand - you win , if it’s less – the house wins.
  • If you tie with the dealer, you ,,push” (nobody wins and nobody loses).
  • If you should go over twenty-one (bust), you immediately lose.
  • After each player takes their turn, the dealer draws additional cards for house.
  • If the dealer has sixteen or less, the house must ,,hit” (draw additional cards), until reaching seventeen or more.
  • The dealer must stand on all (soft/hard) 17. A soft 17 is a hand containing at least one Ace and can be counted as either seven or seventeen.
  • If the dealer bursts, the house must pay all the players that still play.

    • Rules

    The rules differ according to the blackjack version, so it is recommended that you read the rules before playing. In addition to the rules specific to the blackjack version you have chosen to play, there are also basic rules that need to be known:

  • All blackjack games allow players to share their hand , but there are some games that do not allow players to divide Aces or allow only one player division.
    • Split Hand - If a player has the first 2 cards of the same value, the player can divide them. To divide, an equal amount of the initial stake is placed on the table outside of the betting area. The dealer separates the two cards into two different hands, adding a card each. Split hands are completely independent and play separately!
  • Players are allowed to double the amount originally played after receiving the first two cards. Some blackjack versions allow players to double at any value they want. Other versions allow players to double only if they have a hand with a total value of 9, 10 or 11. If players choose to double, then the player who has doubled must receive another card they must accept, refuse the book to plus is not an option..
  • The insurance bet is a secondary pariu that can be placed if the dealership card that is face up is as or card character (king / dam / valet). If the hand is blackjack the player wins the bet. The dealer will check his book face down after all players have wagered, if the blacjack dealer pays. If the player does not place a secondary bet and the dealer's hand is blackjack, all bets are lost except for the bet insurance.
